SanomaWSOY Corp. Stock Exchange Release 9 Apr 2008 at 9:00
SanomaWSOY has appointed three new directors to its Corporate Centre. Kim Ignatius has been appointed as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and member of SanomaWSOY's Executive Management Group. Sven Heistermann has been appointed as Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) and Ben Tiesnitsch as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) of SanomaWSOY. The appointments are in line with the renewal of SanomaWSOY's management model announced in April 2007. All three directors will report directly to SanomaWSOY's President and CEO Hannu Syrjänen.
"I'm very happy that these experienced and highly professional directors are joining the SanomaWSOY Group. All three have strong international background and I'm convinced that their expertise will give us great additional value in internationalising the Group further in years to come," SanomaWSOY's President and CEO Hannu Syrjänen states. "It is important that the composition of the Group management better reflects our international exposure," Syrjänen continues.
Kim Ignatius as CFO of the SanomaWSOY Group
Kim Ignatius B.Sc. (Econ.), 51, has been appointed as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of SanomaWSOY and member of SanomaWSOY's Executive Management Group. In his new position, Ignatius will be responsible for the Group's Finance and Administration as well as Investor Relations and ICT.
The Finnish Kim Ignatius has been working for the Nordic and Baltic telecommunications operator TeliaSonera since 2000, and currently holds the position of Executive Vice President and CFO. Previously, he was CFO and member of the Executive Board of Tamro Corporation. Ignatius will begin working at SanomaWSOY on the date specified later on.
"The past eight years with TeliaSonera have been exciting and rewarding. Now it's time to find new challenges. I see my new position as an interesting opportunity to build on my experience in telecommunications, but also as a chance for further personal development in the broader converging media markets. SanomaWSOY is a group with long and respected history. In recent years the Group has internationalised significantly and it will be great to be part of its future development," Ignatius says.
The present Senior Vice President, Group Finance and Administration, Matti Salmi will retire according to his own wish during the summer.
"I'm very excited about joining SanomaWSOY and working closely with the experienced management team in the Group as well as in the divisions. It's a unique opportunity to play a part in developing this strong media company further. The increasing digitalisation of media as well as the further internationalisation of the company will be two extremely interesting aspects of my work," Sven Heistermann says.
