Esmerk is to concentrate an increasing part of its content production of news abstracts in its office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The majority of all English to English news abstracting will in the future be carried out in Kuala Lumpur, including coverage of North America and many English language trade sources. Ten new analysts have already been employed and trained in Kuala Lumpur, which after this expansion will have close to 40 employees working on the production of Esmerk news abstracts. This expansion programme has seen Esmerk has expand its office space in Kuala Lumpur and put in place the infrastructure to allow the company to add further resources in line with plans to gradually expand and deepen its news coverage of the growing Asian economies.
"This operation is not driven primarily by a desire to cut costs. Costs and productivity are, of course, always important but this is more about ensuring that our content operations are structured in the best way possible to enable our future growth" says Derek Cox, MD of Esmerk.
