Head of Editorial Teams Tapio Kivistö is to lead a project to develop the portfolio of technology, car, and science titles at Finland’s leading magazine publisher, Sanoma Magazines. At the same time the Editor-in-Chief of MikroBitti changes.Head of Editorial Teams Tapio Kivistö (43) is in charge of the technology, car, and science titles at Sanoma Magazines Finland´s Magazines Unit. These magazines, which include MikroBitti, Tietokone, Pelit, Auto Bild Suomi, GTi-Magazine, V8-Magazine, Tiede and Geo, reach almost one third of all Finnish men.The technology magazines´ development project is intended to help the titles respond to on-going changes in the media world and serve their readers even more effectively, both in print and online. Tapio Kivistö has been a Head of Editorial Teams at the Magazines Unit for the last 18 months and previously served as Managing Editor at Sanoma Custom Publishing and as News Manager at Taloussanomat.“Tapio Kivistö is a skilled, journalism-driven manager and an expert at developing both content and editorial processes, with a great ability to inspire his colleagues. Inspiration is very valuable, as it is perhaps the single most important quality needed to manage creative teams effectively,” says Riitta Pollari, Sanoma Magazines’ Publisher, Magazines.“Producing exciting, stand-out content is important whatever the channel,” says Tapio Kivistö. “Our recent revamp of Tietokone, for example, has been well-received and shows that technology magazines can still succeed in the print world. A good magazine needs to be able to delve deep into the subjects it covers and offer its readers a good mix of food for thought, help in the day-to-day issues they face, together with a positive overall experience and entertainment as well. Online channels complement this by focusing on news, information, services, and social interaction.”As part of the project, the Editor-in-Chief of Finland’s largest new technology magazine, MikroBitti, will change. Editorial Manager Pasi Andrejeff has been appointed Acting Editor-in-Chief of the title as of 17 November. The current Editor-in-Chief, Otto Aalto, is to leave Sanoma Magazines Finland and to head towards new challenges.“Otto Aalto worked with our technology titles for 16 years. He has had strong influence in turning MikroBitti, which started as a hobby magazine for computer enthusiasts, into the leading expert of new technology,” says Riitta Pollari.Further information:Publisher Riitta Pollari, Magazines Unit, tel. +358 40 725 2463Head of Editorial Teams Tapio Kivistö, Magazines Unit, tel. +358 (0)9 120 5952Sanoma Magazines Finland is Finland’s leading magazine publisher, with a portfolio of more than 40 titles read by over 3 million Finns.
