Sanoma headquarters move to Sanoma House as of 1 September 2014. The relocation is part of an initiative to develop Sanoma’s city centre campus in Helsinki.
Sanoma aims to centralise its operations in the Helsinki region to three locations. The initiative was launched in late 2012 when Nelonen Media moved to Sanoma House. Magazine Media, Kids Media and Sanoma Pro will move under one roof in Helsinki in spring 2015. The third location is the Sanomala print and office building in Vantaa.
“Sanoma is continuously encouraging and enabling its business operations to collaborate more closely. The purpose of the campus is to bring together our decentralised units, enable diverse operational development and increase innovation beyond boundaries. The campus will reduce the need for commuting between locations. It offers our employees a more attractive, modern and dynamic work environment where they can create leading solutions,” says Harri-Pekka Kaukonen, President and CEO of Sanoma.
The editorial offices of Helsingin Sanomat and Ilta-Sanomat newspapers and the TV and radio operations of Nelonen Media are also located in Sanoma House.
In March 2014, Sanoma sold Sanoma House to a real estate fund of the German company Deka Immobilien and signed a long-term lease agreement with the company. Sanoma is seeking tenants to the Ludviginkatu 6–8 property. Sanoma is reducing locations as part of its Group-wide cost savings programme of EUR 100 million (gross).
