Sanoma Corporation, Press Release, 26 August 2014 at 12:00 CET+1
Sanoma is planning to implement structural changes in its magazine, telesales and customer service operations in Finland as part of the reorganisation of its consumer media operations. The goal is to reform operating models to serve the changing needs of customers and benefit from synergies. Statutory employee negotiations will be launched in the affected operations.
The planned organisational changes concern the Magazine Media business unit of Sanoma Media Finland and the telesales and customer service operations of the Consumer Sales and Customer Relationships unit. The plans include a renewal of the editorial process at Magazine Media, the centralisation of Sanoma’s telesales operations to Vantaa and Oulu and the centralisation of customer service operations to Vantaa.
If implemented, the planned measures may lead to a maximum personnel reduction or reduction of employment contract to a part-time contract of 130 people, of which 40 in Magazine Media and 90 in telesales and customer service operations.
“The planned changes are part of our strategic reorganisation, which began with the merger of Sanoma’s media operations in Finland at the beginning of the year and has continued with the establishment of new commercial operations, among other measures. We are building a more centralised structure, consistent operating methods and more agile processes to better meet the needs of our customers and make comprehensive use of our multichannel media selection. Unfortunately, some of the changes call for difficult decisions in terms of personnel. We will do our best to support employees affected by the changes,” says Pekka Soini, CEO of Sanoma Media Finland.
During 2014, Sanoma Media Finland has reformed the structure of its business units, established centralised commercial operations and reformed the editorial processes of Helsingin Sanomat. Sanoma has focused on its core business operations by divesting properties and further developing its product selection through acquisitions and divestments.
