Why is sustainability in marketing so difficult? In Sanoma’s new Sanomista vastuullisuudesta podcast, the host Hanna Kinnunen talks with sustainability professionals on topics such as social responsibility, greenwashing and the environmental impacts of fashion, logistics and food production. Welcome and listen in!
The first two episodes were published on 25 September, and the episodes can be listened to free of charge through the Supla service. The next four episodes will be published one week apart.
The first episode dived into the theme of sustainability in the field of logistics. The logistics industry is one of the world’s most polluting industries. How can a large logistics company be sustainable? The episode’s guest is Anna Salmi, SVP Brand, Communications and Sustainability at Posti Group.
“We are already living on borrowed time on our planet. A large logistics company has to be sustainable,” Salmi says.
The second episode reflects on social responsibility and the opportunities it provides. According to Mari Haavisto, founder of Sus+Com Agency, companies already take environmental and economic responsibility reasonably well into consideration, but social responsibility is still in its infancy.
“First, we need the action, then the words to achieve an impact. If you only act, it does not increase value and it is not a competitive advantage for the company. On the other hand, if all you have is words, it is nothing but greenwashing or pinkwashing. Both action and words are needed,” Haavisto says.
